Engagement session at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club
I’ve been witness to quite a few love stories over the last few months, but none have felt as personal as the engagement session between Marc and Liz. Marc has been friends with Philippe (my partner) since kindergarten, and I’ve basically known him as long as I’ve known Phil. Over the years, we’ve been to lots of bad movies (the guys like Sci-fi stuff), eaten together, and partied on our boats on the St. Lawrence River in a freakishly religious manner. The location was also quite personal because of all the time Phil, Amoni and I spend at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club.
This session reinforced my sentiment towards getting to know and choosing the right couples to photograph. I photographed them in my image, which was successful because I know them well, and since we all trust each other, they let me do my thing. My advice to engaged couples would be to take the time to get to know your future wedding photographer. After all, this person will bear witness to the most intimate moments of your wedding day, so you better make sure you really like them. It’s also important you make sure that they understand what’s important to you. Likewise, my advice to photographers is to choose (yes, even if it means turning down clients), couples that inspire you to take great images, and that are easy to work with.
The photographs that follow are extremely easy on the eyes, and I hope they bring a bit of joy to your Friday. Enjoy!
