Update: I got lazy and this became a 2 part series:). Bonjour loves! Today I’m posting the first shoot of a five part series entitled, Chez moi. These series combine interior and lifestyle shots (which I have sworn to master this year). The reason I chose my apartment as a subject is that for me, lifestyle photography is super difficult, but it’s also the type of photography that made me go to photography school in the first place. Shooting at my place means that I can crank up my music, move shit out of the way, and most importantly, take all the time I need. I’m not going to write a how to tutorial because you can read a pretty good one here. Instead, let me just say that the biggest challenge I had in part one (the sex room bedroom) was photographing the bed with the space I had. I’m pretty sure I had the wrong vantage points because not everyone in decorating magazines has a huge room. I tried shooting outside my door too but nothing was working, so I guess I’ll be practicing these kinds of shots during this series.

Now why should you care that I’m taking pictures of chez moi? Well, let me list the many reasons you would want to do this yourself:

♥ You have a relative far away that you like and you want them to visit you in your home town. Take enticing pictures of your place and stage it to look better than a 4 star hotel.
♥ You have a relative far away that thinks you’re rich because you live in “the americas” and you do not want them coming to visit you. Take a picture of the dirtiest corner of your house, lower the exposure on your image and send it to them (depending on where they’re from, they might still want to come).
♥ You could post the pics on instagram #myhomeisprettierthanyours.
♥ Maybe you’re a blogger and you want to take some pics for your readers.
♥ Maybe you just want a record of where you lived in 2014 for you to look at when your sitting in your big ass house 10 years from now.

In any case, I invite you to make yourself comfortable and learn how to do this stuff over five posts. That’s all folks!
xo, Cass

Says the reader to Cassie: “Why are there only three pictures?”
Says Cassie in her head: “I told you this was hard bitch!” #hater #mindyoownbusiness #letmeseeallofyourpictures
Says Cassie to reader: “That’s a great question! I’m learning, I’ll try to get more pictures in the next posts:)”
