Hello loves! Between my 9 to 5, completing assignments, and most recently, travelling to the surprisingly awesome city of Winnipeg, I had the time to squeeze in a couple of personal projects. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure to photograph Emma, a beautiful aspiring model (you can find Emma on Model Mayhem, btw). I decided to do a laid back type of shoot. Something that you might see on a cool Tumblr blog, or maybe a skate-type of blog. I got a cheap top from Urban Planet for $12 but it was a very big part of what made the vibe hot. Emma picked up some black panties to pair with the top and that was it. We shot 700 pictures and in the end I picked the top 4.

The reason I decided to go with a low key vibe is that we didn’t have a professional team to work with, which is essential when doing editorial/fashion type shoots. Keeping the theme simple allowed us to get awesomely laid back pics that look professional, but not like we’re trying to be something we aren’t.

Anyways, more about the shoot: it was done in my bedroom, I didn’t use a reflector (I would have gotten better results if I had), and for the settings, all the pics were taken with my fifty nifty canon lens at f/2.8, 1/400 (there was lots of light), ISO 400. I’ll try to keep the ISO at 100 next time to reduce the noise. Overall, I love the results, and I received tons of compliments from classmates, before even editing any of the pics. I’ll try to post something else this week. Until then, take care beauties!

Thank you!!! I find natural lighting beautiful and feminine. Can’t wait to work on a project with you.

nice set! love the one with the giant mirror. I like the low key feel, i’m used to flash 24/7, so this would be an idea for my next shoots 😉
